One of the first decision I made as an artist was to concentrate my efforts toward one-of-a-kind, museum quality art quilts. This entailed avoiding the temptation of making cute affordable items in order to earn money, and the phrase “no calico chickens” became almost a mantra. The tongue-in-cheek title of this piece is reinforcement of the fact that this creature, although a bird, is definitely NOT a calico chicken. A collection of Marjorie Beavis’s marbleized fabrics is featured in this design.
